Description

A single heron with a dark green back, pale gray-blue wings, cream underside, and a bright yellow bill and legs perches on a snow-covered branch, its head tilted downward and its long yellow bill pointing toward the lower right. Snow clings to the branches and a tree stump around it, set against a gray sky that deepens to blue near the bottom of the composition. Ohara Koson's 1920 color woodblock print "Heron in Snow" is signed with characters in the lower left corner.
