Description

Deep-blue iris blossoms with yellow throat markings rise among tall, blade-like green leaves against a plain grey-blue ground that pales toward the bottom; an unopened bud stands at upper right. The artist's seal and signature appear in black at lower left. Ohara Koson's 1930 woodblock print in ink and color with mica renders the petals in layered violet-blue tones with fine veining, giving the composition a close-up, quiet stillness.
