Description

Two small birds with black-capped heads, orange-red cheek patches, pale peach-white breasts, and dark grey-black wings perch together on a bundle of thin, curving reeds rendered in fine black brushstrokes against a plain grey-toned background. The lower bird faces left in profile while the upper bird's head turns toward the viewer, their bodies overlapping at the shoulder; the artist's signature and a red seal appear at lower left. *Two Birds on Reeds*, a 1928 woodblock print in ink and color on paper by Ohara Koson.
