Description
Among the untitled prints attributable to Okumura Koichi and published by Unsodo, this woodblock work represents his sustained engagement with Japanese landscape as a vehicle for atmospheric and tonal exploration. The shin-hanga movement within which Okumura worked placed renewed emphasis on the expressive potential of graduated ink washes, seasonal light, and the textural character of handmade washi paper — qualities that aligned naturally with his nihonga training. His snow scenes in particular are regarded as among the finest of the genre, and many untitled prints in his output depict winter mountain villages or frozen waterways where the subtlety of shadow on snow demanded precise calibration across multiple printing passes. Without a title, this print's specific subject remains uncertain, but it reflects the technical and artistic standards characteristic of his Unsodo collaboration.
