$2,000–$15,000. Snow and night scenes tend to command premium prices for this artist. Key value factors: As a living artist continuing the shin-hanga tradition, Binnie's prints are investment-quality. Limited editions and larger formats are most valued.
From the Travels with the Master series, this trial proof (T/P) of the New York Night composition experiments with a specific sky treatment — [gomazuri](/glossary/gomazuri) (scattered sesame-seed texture) in black and ultramarine blue-green — that would have been one option in the process of establishing the final edition's color state. Trial proofs document the decision-making process of woodblock printing, each one a working moment in the refinement of a composition. The gomazuri sky of this version creates a specific nocturnal texture quite different from a smooth [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradation.
