Description

This abstract composition divides the sheet into vertical bands of varying width, overlaid with a large black rectangular block in the upper portion that bleeds into soft gray drips along its lower edge. From left to right the bands shift through pink-and-cream horizontal stripes, plain cream with fine woodgrain texture, narrow gray and yellow stripes, and a wide orange-and-yellow striped band with visible wood grain, while the upper right corner shows a mottled maroon, cream, and white streaked pattern. No figures or setting are depicted; the print is signed and numbered in pencil along the lower left and bottom edges. Titled *Sumi Bleed*, by Paul Furneaux, mokuhanga, year unknown.
