Description
*New Moon* (2020), a monotype by Sara Lee, depicts a pale crescent moon in a dark blue-grey sky above a flat expanse of olive-green ground. A diagonal band of lighter blue crosses the upper portion of the composition near the moon, while the textured sky occupies most of the vertical space above a low horizon line. The palette is limited to muted indigo, slate blue, and yellow-green, giving the scene a quiet, dusk-like mood.
