Description
Sea Change (2017), a pastel on paper by Sara Lee, is a horizontal composition divided between a pale gray-blue sea and a hazier lavender-gray sky, meeting at a soft horizon line in the lower third of the frame. Along that meeting point, a diffuse band of lighter, whitish tone blurs the boundary between water and air, evoking mist or streaks of rain. The palette stays within muted blues, grays, and lavenders throughout, with no figures, vessels, or other distinct forms, giving the whole a quiet, atmospheric stillness.
