$300–$2,000. Common prints: $300–$800. Key value factors: Sano's landscape prints are modestly priced and accessible to collectors.
Shizugatake, a mountain ridge in Shiga Prefecture famous for a pivotal 1583 battle between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Shibata Katsuie, glows under the remnants of a fading sun. Sano renders the landscape in warm, diminishing light that transforms the ridgeline into layered bands of color bleeding from amber into deep violet. The 1996 [oban](/glossary/oban) woodblock print treats the sky as the true subject, compressing the land into a narrow strip while the afterglow fills the upper two-thirds of the composition. The historic site is presented not as a battlefield but as a place where light itself performs, and the title's kanji (賤ヶ岳残照) emphasizes the lingering quality of that radiance.
