Description

This black-and-white woodblock print is composed almost entirely of dense, angular black-ink patterning against the cream paper, with a bird visible near the upper center, its body and wings rendered in bold black shapes with a small round white eye. The lower-right area contains a narrow, elongated animal form with pointed features suggestive of a fox amid a thicket of jagged triangular and leaf-like carved motifs that fill most of the composition. A vertical column of Japanese characters and a red seal appear in the lower-left margin alongside the artist's romanized signature and the date "1953," framed by an unmarked cream border.
