Description

A bold black woodblock figure of a nude woman dominates the composition, her round face and heavy limbs rendered in thick, angular black outlines against the white paper, seated with one arm raised toward a hawk perched at upper left. Dense foliage and geometric leaf patterns fill the background, with a second dark bird visible at the right edge, and vertical columns of Japanese characters run along the upper right. The print is stark black-and-white with a pencil inscription and red seal at the lower left; *The Hawk Princess*, Shiko Munakata, 1955, woodblock print.
