A black-and-white woodblock print centered on a stone or wooden lantern-like structure with a peaked roof, rendered in bold, jagged black strokes against the cream paper. Dense vertical columns of Japanese calligraphy border the composition on the left, right, and lower portions, interspersed with a small seated figure in an upper window at left and scattered branch or leaf forms; a red seal appears in the lower right. The overall effect is stark and graphic, built from heavy black masses and angular linework rather than fine detail.
