Typical Price
Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima Prefecture is one of Japan's largest lakes, and Asano's depiction captures its expansive mountain-ringed waters. This northern landscape subject is less common than his Kyoto prints, giving it modest scarcity value. Prices typically fall between $150-$450, and the serene open-water composition offers a calming counterpoint to his more complex architectural views.
Description
Inawashiro Lake in Fukushima Prefecture — Japan's fourth-largest lake, situated in the Aizu highlands with Mt. Bandai reflected in its waters — is presented with Asano's characteristic attention to the relationship between still water and the mountains or sky reflected in it. The lake's clean, clear waters and the broad volcanic peak of Bandai provided a landscape subject of considerable grandeur, quite different from the intimate temple precincts of Kyoto that dominated his output. This print demonstrates the geographic range of his artistic travel beyond the Kansai region.
