Uprise

Uprise (2021) is an abstract composition of narrow vertical bars in cut and pasted woodblock-printed papers mounted on museum board, radiating upward and outward from a low center point against a solid yellow ground. Each bar carries its own gradient—shifting through combinations of pink, magenta, teal, green, blue, violet, and orange—creating a fan-like burst of color across the rectangular sheet. The overall effect is bright and dynamic, with no figures or representational elements, only the rhythmic play of colored strips against the flat yellow field.
