One of the most explicitly narrative titles in the Diary series, this 1995 oban-format woodblock print depicts a man asleep beside a newspaper. The "(b)" designation indicates a second version or companion piece made on the same date. The subject — an unconscious figure next to the daily news — is the kind of overlooked domestic moment Noda's project was built to preserve. A person sleeping with a newspaper is simultaneously banal and intimate, public information meeting private oblivion. The woodblock technique gives the scene a physical weight that a photograph alone would not carry, transforming a casual observation of February 11th, 1995 into a permanent printed object.
