A screenprint from June 1978, this Diary entry records a midsummer day using pure silkscreen technique. The date — June 24th — falls during Japan's rainy season (tsuyu), when persistent overcast skies and frequent downpours define the landscape. Noda produced another Diary entry with a nearly identical date that same year, suggesting he worked through the same days using different techniques or compositions. Screenprinting offered a flatter, more graphic result than the woodcut-silkscreen hybrid, and Noda clearly chose between methods based on what each image required. This print's pure silkscreen process gives it a photographic directness suited to the diffused light of the rainy season.
