This etching takes interiority as its explicit subject, suggesting a composition in which external natural imagery serves as a projection of interior states. Fudezuka may depict a solitary natural setting — a still pond, a sparse winter tree, or a close-up of a rock surface — in which the density and pressure of the engraved line communicates psychological intensity rather than purely descriptive observation. The reflexive quality of the title implies that the print is as much about the act of making as about the depicted subject, consistent with Fudezuka's broader inquiry into the relationship between technical discipline and inner experience. Tonal contrasts may be sharper here than in other works, with areas of dense cross-hatching opposing open, lightly worked zones.
Talking to Myself was created by Toshihisa Fudezuka (筆塚稔久).
