Description
Part of a series of forest studies, this print explores the woodblock medium's natural affinity with its own raw material — the tree. Sekino's "etude" approach suggests a musician's exercise: working through the formal problems of a single subject (vertical trunks, filtered light, shadow patterns in undergrowth) in concentrated isolation. The numbered title implies a systematic series of such woodland exercises.
