Description
A stylized, flat-color woodblock print set against a deep blue-black ground: a bearded, wide-eyed man rendered in blue-gray and olive tones grips a long vertical staff with both hands, while a plump, striped bird (in white, gray, and rust) stands beside him on gray-green ground, facing him. Behind the man's head a brown disc with radiating white spokes suggests a sun or wheel form, and a small brown ball-like shape sits in the lower left corner. The palette is limited to indigo, olive-gray, rust-brown, and white, with bold black outlines and simplified, angular shapes throughout. Umetaro Azechi, woodblock print, "A Bird Walking On A Man," year unknown.
