Lu Junyi (Japanese: Gyokukirin Roshungi), the "Jade Unicorn," was one of the most capable commanders among the Water Margin's 108 heroes, initially an adversary of Liangshan who became one of its greatest leaders. This oban from the Suikoden series (c. 1827-30) depicts him in the armoured splendor appropriate to the second most powerful figure in the outlaws' hierarchy, his characteristic horse-related attributes (the "unicorn" sobriquet refers to his prized mount) likely incorporated into the composition.
