Description
Interior view of a traditional Japanese room, dominated by a slender wooden support post running vertically through the frame from ceiling to a low platform on the tatami floor. Muted sepia and grey tones fill the space, with faded painted screens or fusuma visible on the back wall showing a soft landscape motif (hills and what may be pine branches), lit unevenly so the corners fall into shadow while the tatami mats in the foreground catch more light. The composition is quiet and still, with no figures present. Yoshihiko Ueda, *Kyoto*, 1997, type C-print.
