Durham Cathedral and its castle, occupying a dramatic peninsula formed by a loop of the River Wear, is one of England's most spectacular architectural settings, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This woodblock print after a composition by Frank Brangwyn demonstrates the collaborative nature of the artists' working relationship: Brangwyn would sketch or design the composition and Urushibara would translate it into the woodblock medium, bringing Japanese printmaking precision to Brangwyn's painterly vision.
