Le Quai Vert — the Green Quay — in Bruges, one of the medieval canal-side embankments that define the city's historic core. The Bruges series of 1919 systematically documented these quayside spaces where the city's commercial and architectural heritage converge at the water's edge. Green quays were typically bordered by trees or vegetation whose foliage would have created the color reference in the name, and Urushibara's rendering likely shows the characteristic Flemish scene of gabled houses reflected in the still canal below overhanging branches.
