Description
An untitled woodblock print by Aoyama Masaharu (1893–1969), the sosaku-hanga printmaker born in Saitama Prefecture who studied traditional Japanese ink painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and later worked at the Imperial Household Museum. His prints are distinguished by exceptional technical mastery in carving, printing, and design, with particular strength in bird subjects that bridge traditional nihonga and modern creative printmaking.
