Description

A fourth untitled work by Aoyama Masaharu (1893–1969). The range of his subject matter — from Japan's most famous architectural monuments (Kinkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Matsumoto Castle) to the humble details of rural material culture (mud walls, straw shelters, fishing baskets) — reflects both his deep knowledge of Japanese tradition, acquired through his nihonga training and museum work, and his sosaku-hanga artist's commitment to personal observation and individual expression.
