Description
Touches 2J-CSB, a 1985 color woodblock on paper, belongs to the extended Touches series that occupied Yoshida through much of the 1980s. The series title refers to the physical contact between block and paper, the moment of impression when carved wood meets dampened sheet. Each print in the series varies the parameters of that contact: pressure, ink density, paper moisture, number of passes. The 2J-CSB suffix encodes these variables, making each print a record of specific conditions. Yoshida's systematic approach transforms the ancient craft of mokuhanga into a form of material research, each touch yielding different results from nominally similar inputs.
