Description
This fifth untitled print by Kikumaro occupies a position within a growing body of unnamed works that collectively form an unintentional series. The woodblock medium's technical demands, carving blocks in reverse, registering multiple color layers, controlling ink absorption - remain constant regardless of whether the finished print receives a title. Kikumaro's skill in managing these variables produces prints with a consistency of craft even when the imagery varies. The untitled designation, whether a deliberate artistic choice or a gap in documentation, ultimately frees the viewer to find their own entry point into the image without verbal instruction.
