Description
Bunarin Aki — Forest of Beech in Autumn — is a companion work to the Bunahayashi-Aki series, representing another study in Fujita's sustained exploration of the beech forest as abstract compositional subject. The beech forest's dense canopy, the interplay of copper-gold leaves and dark trunks, and the quality of light filtering through the autumn foliage create the compositional material for his modernist woodblock investigations. The different Japanese romanizations suggest these may be from slightly different moments in the series.
