Description
A view between thatch-roofed farmhouses with dark timber framing, seen across an open earthen yard bordered by a low stone-edged path; a bundle of pale husked corn or onions hangs drying under the eaves of the central building. Two white chickens peck in the yard's foreground, with pink flowering shrubs at right and a strip of green field and pale blue sky visible in the gap between structures. Kawase Hasui, "A Farmhouse in Autumn, Ayashi, Miyagi Prefecture," 1946, color woodblock print.
