Description
Kougen no Asa B — Highlands in the Morning — is the second variation in Fujita's series of highland morning subjects, capturing the particular atmospheric quality of Japan's high plateaus (kougen) at dawn: the cool air, the low-angled light catching mountain grasses, the clarity of altitude before the heat of day builds. Japan's highland plateaus — Nasu, Ura-Bandai, Kirigamine — have a distinctive character that differs from both coastal and lowland morning, and Fujita's abstract treatment conveys this specific atmosphere.
