Description
Yamanoharu J — Mountain in Spring J — is the tenth variation in what appears to be Fujita's most extended mountain-in-spring series, reaching at least the tenth iteration. That this subject can sustain ten or more distinct compositional and chromatic investigations speaks to Fujita's deep engagement with the subject's possibilities: changing the angle of approach, the elevation of viewpoint, the proportion of mountain to sky, the treatment of vegetation at different stages of spring development, and the quality of light at different times of day.
