Description
Autumn transforms a mountain path into a passage through fire and gold, the deciduous trees on either side igniting in the season's characteristic brilliance. Kitaoka renders the foliage with the woodblock's characteristic capacity for saturated flat color — reds bleeding into oranges, yellows compressed into geometric shapes — while the path itself remains a cool, neutral corridor through the blaze. The seasonal intensity is balanced by compositional calm, the ancient Japanese aesthetic of mono no aware expressed through modern formal means.
