$500–$5,000. Common prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Kitaoka's refined style has a modest but loyal collector base.
"Forest oath D" — one of multiple variants in a forest path series — transforms the path through trees into something more solemn than a simple landscape. The word "oath" (chikai) in the Japanese title (MORI-NO-MICHI translates more directly as "forest path," and "oath" may be interpretive) suggests the print carries a sense of commitment or covenant, the forest as a space in which something has been pledged or decided. Kitaoka renders the enclosed space of the forest with the cool, green-filtered light of a woodland interior.
