Description
"Path to the Forest C" continues Kitaoka's systematic exploration of this compositional motif through another variant of the forest path. The sequential lettering across his series suggests a deliberate process of formal investigation: holding the subject constant while varying angle, light, season, or palette to understand what each permutation reveals about the subject's essential qualities. This variant in the series contributes its particular solution to the problem of how to render the threshold experience of approaching and entering a forest.
