$500–$5,000. Common prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Kitaoka's refined style has a modest but loyal collector base.
A reservoir — an artificial body of water constrained by embankments and purposes — offers Kitaoka a landscape subject at once man-made and elemental. The still surface mirrors light and sky while embankment edges impose geometry on the natural setting. Kitaoka was drawn throughout his career to water in its many forms, and the reservoir's combination of ordered geometry and reflective depth suited his interest in subjects that exist at the boundary between the human-shaped and the natural world.
