Description
Two ducks with mallard-like coloring — one with a glossy dark green head, yellow bill, brown breast, and gray-and-white body, the other shown from behind with its head submerged, exposing mottled brown, white, and dark green-blue plumage — swim on a pale blue-gray rippled pond. A white water lily and a single green lily pad float in the lower foreground, with a vertical inscription and red seal in the upper right corner. Hashiguchi Goyo's 1920 woodblock print "Mandarin Ducks" renders the scene in soft, muted tones with fine linework detailing the birds' feathers.
