$500–$4,000. Common subjects: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Hirano's prints are relatively accessible compared to other bijin-ga specialists. Condition is important.
Titled "Yuagari" in Japanese, meaning "after the hot water," this [oban](/glossary/oban) woodblock print presents another version of the post-bath subject that appears multiple times in Hirano Hakuho's catalog. Each version likely differs in the woman's pose, costume, or the degree to which the bathing environment is visible. The yuagari moment occupies a specific place in the daily rhythm of Japanese life: the deep soak in the ofuro is an evening ritual, and the figure emerging from it is transitioning from the private act of bathing to the semi-private space of the home. Hakuho captures this liminal state with sensitivity to the body's appearance after immersion in hot water: the dampened hair, the loosened muscles, and the overall softening of posture that hot water produces. The woodblock printer would have adjusted the skin tones to suggest residual warmth and moisture.
