Bottles at the Bar

"Bottles at the Bar" introduces a still-life subject into Tajima's abstracting vision, reducing bar bottles and counter light to a constellation of vertical marks and reflected color. The urban nocturnal setting — bottles catching light in a dim bar — becomes a pretext for exploring transparency, reflection, and the layering of translucent color fields in woodblock print. The composition occupies a middle ground between legible subject and pure abstraction characteristic of Tajima's range.
