$500–$5,000. Common prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Tajima's powerful abstract prints have appeal among both Japanese print and modern art collectors.
"River-side" brings Tajima's abstracting attention to bear on one of the enduring subjects of Japanese landscape art: the bank and flow of a river. Rather than depicting the river as a scenic subject, Tajima renders the experience of standing beside moving water — the shifting light, the sound implied by the image, the boundary between land and water dissolving into a zone of visual ambiguity. His handling suggests the indefinite edge where stillness and movement meet.
