$200–$2,000. Common Kyoto views: $200–$600. Key value factors: Ito Nisaburo's Kyoto prints are popular and accessible. Night scenes, snow views, and cherry blossom compositions command premiums.
Niagara Falls — one of Nisaburo's most geographically distant subjects, the great falls on the US-Canada border depicted in his Japanese woodblock style. Nisaburo was among the shin-hanga artists who depicted international subjects alongside their Japanese ones, and the scale of Niagara — horizontal and vast rather than vertical and narrow like Japanese falls — would have required significant compositional adaptation. The translation of North American landscape into the Japanese woodblock medium creates an interesting cultural dialogue.
