Description
A woman in profile sits on a green woven mat, gazing upward toward a burst of red and yellow fireworks in the upper right corner of a dark grey night sky. She wears a blue-and-white striped kimono with a patterned obi in muted greens, reds, and purples, her black hair swept into a high pompadour-style updo with a hairpin, and she holds a round fan with a blue swirling pattern at her side. Ito Shinsui's 1932 woodblock print *Fireworks* renders the scene in flat, subdued color blocks with fine linework defining the kimono folds and hair.
