Description
This second abstract mokuhanga print titled Snowy Night revisits the same winter atmosphere as its companion, likely with a modified palette, altered compositional structure, or different paper preparation. The iterative character of Rome's practice — returning to atmospheric subjects across multiple print editions — allows each work to isolate different aspects of the same experience. Where the first Snowy Night may emphasize spatial depth or the contrast between light and dark, this version may concentrate on surface texture, the directionality of falling snow, or the muffled tonal range that dense overcast night skies impose on winter landscapes. Multiple printings from carved blocks build the chromatic layering that distinguishes mokuhanga from monochrome woodblock work.
