Llucalcari Turquoise revisits the same Mallorcan cove as Llucalcari, with the addition of a color descriptor that signals either a color-inked printing variant or a compositional emphasis on the shallow turquoise water characteristic of the site's sheltered bay. Where the Mediterranean meets limestone and rock at Llucalcari, the water takes on vivid blue-green tones in shallow areas before deepening. If printed with a turquoise-tinted ink or through selective inking of the intaglio plate, this variant would mark a departure from standard black-ink etching, shifting the tonal atmosphere of the composition while preserving the same underlying plate marks. The Hahnemühle 350 gr substrate accommodates color ink with the same dimensional stability it provides for traditional printing. The relationship between this print and its untitled sibling suggests Escudero treats the same etched plate as capable of yielding distinct aesthetic experiences through ink variation.
