Description
The post-town of Fujikawa appears through the farmhouses of its surrounding agricultural district — the thatched-roof structures and storage buildings of a rural settlement defined by rice paddies and vegetable fields. Sekino's farmhouse subjects from the Tokaido series emphasize the domestic architecture of the route's agrarian hinterland, finding in the regional variation of roof styles and construction materials a geography of cultural difference.
