Description

The castle-town of Kameyama in Mie Prefecture appears in this Tokaido station print, the settlement defined by its hilltop castle whose white walls and rooftops marked the approach from the Seki direction. Kameyama Castle was one of the Tokaido's more atmospheric architectural subjects, the castle's position giving the town a vertical drama that contrasted with the flat coastal stations to the east.
