Description

The castle-town of Okazaki in Aichi Prefecture, birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu, appears here through its castle and the Sugo Bridge over the Yahagi River — two of the station's defining architectural elements. Okazaki Castle, rebuilt and restored across the centuries, loomed over the post-town from its hilltop position, while the bridge below provided the crossing that allowed the highway's continuation westward.
