The station of Yoshiwara in Shizuoka Prefecture, closest to the most celebrated view of Mount Fuji along the entire Tokaido, appears in this undated print as a gateway to the mountain's presence. The Yoshiwara station prints in the Tokaido tradition typically foreground Fuji's visibility from this point — the volcano looming over the coastal plain with exceptional clarity on clear days — and Sekino's treatment likely participates in this centuries-old visual convention.
