Description
A second limited edition impression from the Fan series, this print likely depicts a woman holding or posed beside an open folding fan. The fan is a recurrent prop in bijin-ga imagery, serving simultaneously as a compositional device — its spread arc lending dynamic shape to the picture plane — and as a marker of refinement and leisure. In Kawano's hands, the fan's geometric form would contrast with the organic curves of the figure, and its surface may be printed with decorative pattern suggesting lacquerwork or painted silk. As a limited edition work, this impression was produced in a defined run with consistent registration and ink application. Variations between this and the first Fan LE print may include alternate color combinations in the garment or fan decoration.
