Description
A horse strains forward against the weight of a loaded sled, its powerful haunches and the tension in the traces rendered with the bold, decisive line characteristic of Kawano's animal subjects. This print reflects a documentary impulse in his work — the desire to capture the working life of animals and people in the tradition of sosaku-hanga's engagement with observed reality.
