Description
Dawn (2011) by Karen Kunc is an abstract, horizontally oriented woodcut in blue, cream, rust, and ochre, built from clustered oval and circular forms overlapping across the center of the composition. Dark blue-black organic bands with wavy, cloud-like edges frame the top and bottom, containing a paler central field dotted with irregular white and lavender rings; concentric spiral rings appear at the lower left, and rust-brown patches with grid-like line work appear at the upper and lower right. The surface shows dense fine linear textures throughout, consistent with the woodcut, mokuhanga, watercolor, and wax techniques used.
